This year (so far) nothing has died. Everything has remained kind of green but the flower situation is dire. I have given up expecting much in the shape of non-scorched roses until March...
A few plants are still doing well though.

When I first moved to The Farm I turned my nose up at succulents... I don't anymore. They have a funky Nanna style that I adore. And they are survivors. Got to love a garden survivor by mid February.
Anyway - soon it will cool down a bit and my garden will be able to do more than just survive. I can't wait.
In other Farm news - I have caught 8 mice so far in my War on Rodents. I am hoping that the rest will wave the white flag and make a strategic retreat back to the great outdoors, but I have left the traps set. I have seen enough war movies to know there is always a few foolhardy rebels who remain after a defeat.
I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday. My aim is to get through the day without any conversations with Telstra. Some of my experiences on the phone yesterday could have doubled for Monty Python sketches....

Loving your Nanna succulents. Sass and Bide had succulents on one of their Tees last Summer so they are definitely not Nanna now!! And you go girl - good collection of mice bodies - don't give up!! (they could stage a counter attack in more ways than one)...
We got a letter from Telstra yesterday - from now on if you make a phone call say for 30 seconds or less it will cost as much as a minute costs ... I quote "We will now bill all timed calls in one minute blocks of time which means the charge for the call is automatically rounded UP to the nearest minute". Grrrreat! Thanks Telstra. XX
I love succulents! The misty, antique pastel colours make me melt. Not nanna-ish at all I don't think. I can't wait for the day to have a garden. Not much grows on the 35th floor of pollution heavy HK ;( xx
Here I am in the city and I am dealing with exactly the same issues! Well, I we do back onto the bush, so I guess it's not really city, city!!
I put in a drip irrigation system in Spring and it has served me well for Summer watering. Not quite so many casualties this year! My plants all got a might sunburn in the recent heatwave, though.
Still not a succulent fan. I try, I try. At least I'm moving away from ridiculous 'cottage garden' and into more natives!! x
8 MICE??? Oh sweet Lord! It's so dry here too. My garden looks like the Sahara right now. I daren't wish for rain though in case we get flooded too.

Maxabella - I am glad I am not the only one with garden issues. I can't manage to be a fan of native plants in the garden. Love them out in the bush though...
