Yesterday I blogged about comforting things in cold weather. Today I have decided to go with a bit of comfort music. My parents both came from farming backgrounds. My grandparents on my Dad's side were huge Slim Dusty fans. I always associate Slim with growing up.
So - for a Saturday morning I have this.
And I hope everyone enjoys it, but particularly my farming friends and colleagues. Farmers have always been resilient people.

My step-dad is a huge Slim fan and we went on many road trips when I was a kid with Slim, John Williamson, The Seekers and Buddy Holly as our soundtrack. Have a fabulous weekend AFW! gxo

I love Slim Dusty. I was playing it after writing this and turned it off at some point. Farmgirl turned to me and said "Oh Mum, put it back on. I like the man who sings about kangaroos."
Something about that song in particular makes me get a tiny bit teary. (and I don't really do teary...)
Anyways - hope you are having lovely weekends.
I remember my mum throwing glamorous parties, where the ladies all wore long dresses and they'd dance to Charlie Pryor, Charlie Rich, Johnnie Cash, etc and dad would always want Slim Dusty.
I realise now that the long dresses were the style of the 70s but at the time, I thought it was the most amazing sight ever. From my vantage point at the end of the hallway, peeking out.

I am from Mildura (country Vic) originally and also grew up on Slim Dusty. My closest girlfriend from Mildura actually called her daughter Dusty!
I was reared on Slim Dusty music too, my dad was his biggest fan! I still love his music today. Another favourite would be Johnny Cash...
