The End Of The Road.

When I first started this blog I had no idea how long I would blog for.  It is coming up to 12 months since I started and I feel like I have shared a year on our farm and in the process made some wonderful friends in the blog world.

Unfortunately my real life is calling loudly and I am struggling to find the time (and to be honest the inclination) to keep this blog going.  I have always thought that the best time to leave a party is while you are still having a good time and hence I have decided that the time has come for me to finish blogging.

I have enjoyed my blogging journey so much and will keep reading my favourite blogs and commenting away.  Along the way I have managed to create a record of our life here that hopefully The Farmchildren will get a giggle out of in years to come.

Most of all I just want to say thank you to everyone who has read and commented on this blog.  I have been continually amazed by how many people take time out to read and the feedback I have received.

So a thousand thankyous to you all.

Take good care everyone - I can only wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart.

Oh!!! I will be very sad to see you go and will miss getting those beautiful hits of Australia from over here in Hong Kong. I completely understand the need to put it to rest though. It will always be here should you want to come back and so will your faithful readers!! All the best xxx

AFW,
I know you have a second life that is really quite important, so I can understand your need to leave.

I will miss your intelligence and humour and good taste.

But I wish you, your little two and Mr Farmer all the best. Take care. I'll put beans in every meal I make, in honour of you!!

The blog is here, if ever you need to return (I've left in a huff about four times and returned (no questions asked!!).

Oh no. I feel like my favourite bloggers are jumping ship. And I'll miss your life in the country. But do understand. I often ponder whether it's taking up too much of my time. But I do love it, and so keep going.

Instead of just shutting it down, why don't you leave it for a while? You never know, you might want to blog again!

(I've been blogging for five years now. The blojo comes and goes...)

All the best as you enjoy your country life. Much love... xxx

First reaction: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! She can't do this to me!!!!
Second reaction: Totally understand the demands of life 'unwired' - I have so many times just wanted to shut my blog down completely and walk away. But haven't. Maybe I should/would. I'd get a lot more done! Hahaha Understand that there's more going on in the world - more important things, but oh I will miss you :( Please stay in touch in blogland, even if it's not through your own blogging adventure

Tania - Thank you too. I am always chuffed when someone uses my recipes and gives me feedback - I will pop by your blog sometimes too.

Emma - Will definitely keep reading. Am super eager to hear all about the wedding and your next adventure. Thank you for all your comments and support.

Thanks so much Cheryl. Mother nature is smiling at present so here's hoping.

*sob* Most bloggers just fade away and eventually I delete them from my feed and that seems less sad than an actual decision! Of course this way is much nicer and totally understandable too. I only wish I had the power to stop my blog addiction ... no not really. Anyway we will keep in touch I'm sure xx

Amanda Kendle said...

Me again. My mother just emailed me about your blog post and since I know she would never comment (has never even commented on my blogs despite reading every post) I thought I would paste what she wrote here ...

"Interesting, perhaps a little sad – but have learnt a lot - can understand really as she did put a lot of effort into her blogging and she must have quite a busy life, with work, kids and the Farmer."

Sad, but understandable. Sometimes you need time for the real world and the people in it. I've thoroughly enjoyed the journey. Hope it's a great year!

Oh, what a shame. I always looked forward to seeing what was going on at the farm. I can totally understand. There's not a day goes by that I feel like doing the same. I still prefer to read blogs rather than write them but I'm enjoying doing that at the moment. I still always prefer to 'do' rather than just 'blog' about it. Good luck with everything and hope I continue to have things that interest you.

Alison - Thank you for your good wishes.

LPC - Thank you. You're one of the good ones also.

Anne - I will definitely be popping by your blog to peek at your recipes and things. Take care.

But I have only just discovered your blog recently, and enjoy reading it - that is a shame for all of us. However, I understand what you mean about time commitment - and as you have done a full year's worth of blogging, that is a great commitment of time, and a real achievement, in my eyes - especially as you must be so busy with the day to day running of a farm. Take care, thank you for your wonderful blog, and I hope you enjoy some well deserved time to spend on other priorities.

Thanks so much for this blog, I've loved reading it and getting an insight into what is happening on the far side of the country.

Best of luck to you, the Farmer and the Farm Children.

I've always imagined you writing your blog posts with a smile on your face and so you've made me smile... daily. Your blog will be missed but you know I know what you mean about life getting in the way.

I think of you when I drive out of our houseyard as I've just planted eight hot pink geraniums and to me they are perfect Nanna flowers. Right up your alley I'd assume...

Enjoy your life in the country with your farm children and farmer... gxoxo

Lisa - Thank you for your good wishes.

Georgie - Thanks Georgie. I love that I made some people smile.

Your warm, friendly, generous posts will be much missed. I have felt the world, and indeed just our beautiful country, is so much smaller since I discovered blogging. Blogging is a huge time commitment though, I guess that's why my posts aren't always Pulitzer-worthy, I tend to rush them through at night, just because I want to preserve some memories, keep some photos.
I do know that there are many facets to your life, and I am inspired by you. Wishing you and your family all the very best. It's been a pleasure getting to know you even "just a little bit".
I will always treasure the cookbook I 'won' here on your blog, and which we use every week. Your handwritten letter is glued inside it, so you will always be present in our kitchen.

A Farmer's Wife said...

Fiona - Thank you and I am so glad you use the book. I hope you and your gorgeous family do well with your new farm. I will keep reading your blog to see the progress!

I'm grateful that you've told us you're going to stop blogging. Many others just quit writing with no word at all and we are left wondering what has happened to them.
We'll probably still be here if you ever decide to return.
Happy future to you.

Came back from holidays and was HORRIFIED to discover that you are out of blog world.
Where else am I going to find a hipstamatic of a combine harvester? Or CWA treats galore? You will be very missed, you and StJohnswood were my little taste of the country and it will not be the same without you. melx

BushBelles - Thank you!

River - Thank you for your good wishes. I didn't want to leave without saying good bye.

Joolz - So glad you liked the cake.

Mel - I shall keep popping by your blog to see what you are up to!

I've been meaning to pop by for a while, but this is a big shock! I've been wondering where the end of my bloggy road will be. Life is always changing, it's hard to know when to get off the bloggy merry-go-round.
Your blog has always been light, lovely and funny, and it's been a wonderful escape for me to read about farm life with your as my tour guide. You're a great bird and I hope to see and read you around the traps. Don't be a stranger! x
