Old Girls and Spunk Rats. Beachside.

We have got all our crop in (all dry seeded) and so we headed to the beach for the weekend.  When we first bought The Beach House we did a "walk in walk out" deal with the previous owners.  It meant we scored lots of furniture and interesting bits of kitchen gear.  Over time I have gradually made it feel more like our beach house by aiming for the casual" nanna-by-the-sea" vibe I have discussed before on this blog.  This was helped along greatly by the fact that the previous owner was a bona fide "nanna-by-the-sea".

Anyway- one of the first things I did in the decorating department was cover the pin up board with some stripy fabric and cut out pictures from magazines that were supposed to provide sea side inspiration.  (For me this was an extremely crafty thing to do as we all know I am the anti-craft and can turn craft projects into disasters with a single touch.)  Inevitably this pin up board has turned into a hodge podge of takeaway menus and business cards for various tradesmen.  Tucked among the mess there is still the odd inspirational picture.

And just so you can see what tickled my fancy I decided to show you this.

Road Signs With A Coastal Twist

For those of you baffled by my blurry photography the sign says "Caution.  Watch for Children on the Road.  Also Old Girls and Spunk Rats."  Obviously a family holiday house where all ages come to stay.

In other news, rain is forecast here.  Excitement.  Cross everything that it delivers.

Best go - first day back at work after the long weekend in WA and am going to fortify myself with another coffee first.

Take care.

Oh my god. I have not heard "spunk rat " since high school. "spunk rat was a kid two grades younger than my friend who had a crush on him. Haha, she put him on "lay by" till he was older if I remember right...

When I first saw the road sign picture I just loved the old girl and spunk rat reference. Like Andrea I hadn't heard of a spunk rat since high school.

Just looked at my rain radar - looks like you should be getting rained on in about 40mins! Hoo-bloody-ray. I call Mags spunk-rat and I love that sign. I think you should wander down the driveway and introduce yourself - they sound like people worth knowing :) Suzx

I think I would love to be a "nanna-by-the-sea".
I've already got the nanna bit taken care of.
