Christmas Day was also fabulous but very, very hot weather wise. Nothing like 42 degrees celsius on the verandah. All the usual things happened - too much food, too much champagne and lots of presents. Needless to say the house looked a shambles for a while. (The Farmchildren were intrigued as to why their Christmas stockings were filled with things like thermal underwear for our up coming New York/Vermont trip. Farmgirl thought Santa had got very confused given the weather on The Farm.)
We got ourselves sorted out over the next few days and then headed to The Beach for a brief period over New Year. Lots of swimming, fishing and just generally "chillaxing" in the words of Farmboy.
New Year's Eve was fun - we had steak and crayfish with family and friends and I must admit I declined the chance to wait until midnight to go to bed. I figured by 9pm Perth time it was midnight in Sydney so we celebrated then. When I was in bed by 10.30 (1.30am Sydney time) I felt like I had had a big night.
So we are now back to The Farm. It is still revoltingly hot weather wise. You know when the weather man on the radio calls a 36 degree day a break in the heat things have been pretty scorching. Now we have to get ready to go to snowy New York! Such a contrast. So excited and can't believe we will be heading off so soon.
The blog will take a short hiatus as I have decided that I would rather concentrate on my New York experience and being with my family than look at my laptop screen. However I will be back on our return to share my New York stories. Hopefully I will be able to get the blog going properly again after that. I am afraid it has lurched around a bit for most of 2012. It still amazes me that so many people still visit given the decreased frequency (and decreased quality!) of my posts.
I hope you all have had a fabulous Christmas and New Year. I will be back to this space soon.

Can't wait to hear about New York. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! Sounds like a great Christmas even if it was hot, hot, hot!
We keep coming back, by the way, because you a little piece of 'normal'!
Oh, that beach looks divine - such big blue sky and clear water. We haven't even got to the beach yet - and it's only 25 kms away! Hopefully on Friday night (going to be hot here too) - pizzas on the beach out of the Baby Q Weber! Wish us luck, if we can't pull that off, I give up!
Bon Voyage for your New York trip! I'll be interested to hear how you go and what you get up to as we are heading in that direction in August (at this stage).
Cheers - Joolz
Have a great time in the States!
Anne xx

I hope you all have a fabulous time in New York
Happy New Year.
Wishing you a safe trip and I will await your return to hear about all your adventures :)
Sounds like you had a true Aussie Christmas this year. We are now feeling that heat that you have had over there, not looking forward to it at all!
Take care,
x
Happy new year to you all xxxx We went to Happy Zoo Year for the third year running and the kids had a ball. They have the countdown and fireworks at 9pm then everyone goes home to bed - perfect! Suzx
Easy to forget to take photos. I always remember right at the end, when everything is a complete mess. Glad I'm not alone in this blogging malarkey!
New York is fabulous.
I agree the weather was horrendous here in Perth, I find March is usually horrid as well. The air conditioner got a good work out. I can't wait to hear about your trip, photos galore please. Happy New Year to you and yours, safe trip xx Rae
Happy New Year - and don't apologise for lack of photos. It's how it should be...you're enjoying yourself and being in the moment, rather than documenting it (which is slightly removed from the moment!). Have a wonderful time in New York and Vermont (I love Vermont, the houses and scenery driving to the snow are just beautiful). Hope you have a great, and snowy, time. xx
All the best for you and your family T.
Still trying to rev up my space too.
Xx
Hope the New York trip is fabulous! Hard to imagine your heat in our cold.
