My Top 5 Dinner Party Guests

Kate over at Kate Takes 5 has another idea for her Listography link up.  She is suggesting people come up with their Top 5 Dinner Party Guests.

Well Kate, given that I seem to be sorely lacking in the inspiration department, this was a welcome idea for a post over here at Life In The Country.

So, moving right along, here is my list.

My Top 5 Dinner Party Guests

1.  Meryl Streep

Love, love, love her.  The woman can act.  Seriously.  She seems to have resisted the temptation to jump on the plastic surgery/cookie cutter beauty wagon.  She is ageing with grace and style.  I also think she doesn't take herself too seriously (or she would never have done "Mamma Mia").  Meryl - on the infinitesimal chance you are reading this - YOU ROCK!

2.  Russell Crowe

He's a real man. I've seen Gladiator.  He can act too.  I am just not the sort of girl who likes pretty boy girly swots.  So Russell, you're in.

3.  Tim Winton

One of my all time favourite authors.  He is Western Australian as well.  He writes incredible novels and has the most amazing ability to evoke a sense of place. Like me he is in love with the sea.  I think he might be on the shy side, but that's OK, I think the other guests would be pretty chatty.

4. Jilly Cooper

Another of my favourite authors (I have varied taste). I think she would be brilliant company, good fun and potentially hilarious.

5.  The Farmer

Someone needs to open the bottles of wine and keep the glasses topped up. Besides, I quite like him...

I Think A Few Of These Would Be In Order

Great list - I love Meryl too - a beautiful lady and a fab actress.

She looks fab as she ages, as does Emma Thompson. Someone else I wouldn't mind looking like when I get to that age.

A fun post, AFW - I like your style! I posted on something similar at http://www.lifeonplanetbaby.com/2010/11/whos-coming-for-dinner-planning-my.html. It was such fun to write. J x

Looks like a great list - I think Tim Winton would be an interesting person to meet. You've reminded me, I was tagged to join in with a similar list a while back that I have yet to post... will have to get thinking...

Great list. Let's hope that Russell and the Farmer don't come over all gladiatorial when competing for your attention!

I like the fact that you managed to get 2 girls in there to even out numbers...unlike my 5 men and me list...Plus although The Farmer isn't actually famous he's allowed to stay just because of the cuteness of his wife inviting him when she could have had Johnny Depp!

Hannah - Would be more than happy if I looked like Meryl or Emma at any point. I think ageing with style is so much better than going down the mutton dressed as lamb path.

ghostwriter mummy - Had to put The Farmer in. He is still my all time favourite person to have dinner with...

Jane - Thank you, will try and remember to check out your post when I get a chance.

Amanda - I just love Tim Winton, every few years I reread all his novels. "Breath" is my current favourite, particularly for his description of the Southern Ocean.

Kerryonliving - It's OK, The Farmer knows how I feel about Rusty... Do you think if I asked nicely Russell would come in costume??

SSG - Thank you. Would love to see your list!

Kate - I came so close to including Johnny... He would have edged out Jilly but I wanted even numbers!

Ooooh, can I come I have a secret love for Jilly Cooper!!!

Emma - You can come for sure. You can also borrow any of my second hand Jilly Cooper books....!

My husband is offended he didn't make my list!! I had to point out I had referred to "our" dinner party, ie we were hosting it together.

Honestly. How sensitive can you be??

This Mid 30s Life - Glad is was a shared hosting effort. Terribly downer at the end of the night if you are stuck with all the dishes on your own.

Hey very good list here.

I forgot about Meryl, my all time favourite actress. I think I will have to pull up another chair at the table for her. Did you see Praire Home Companion?

I enjoyed reading your list. Some of the people I knew, some I didn't, but I think your dinner party would be fabulous! Visiting from the Rewind.

Popping in from the weekend rewind. What fun a dinner party list! I'd love to have Tim Winton as a guest too. You've got me thinking who I'd want at my dinner party :-)
