Beige Dreams. A Tractor For A Thursday.

Recently I posted about my forays into the world of home decor or "doing up" houses.  The phrase "doing up" always makes me smile and it is still what I refer to decorating as, even though I know it is not the trendiest phrase in the world.  I am sure uber housewives have better descriptions...

I am well and truly back in the land of colour swatches and sample pots.  I have the dreaded Dulux Whites catalogue out and have spent my day doing things like this in The New House.

Samples

Please note the use of Johnson and Johnson Baby Wipes as paintbrush cleaning tools.  I don't leave home without them.

I am also trying to tart up an old kitchen with a new benchtop. Laminex has got much trendier since I last checked.

Look - more beige.

Anyway - as this blog seems to be veering all over the place I thought I better get back on track.

Here is a tractor photo.

Heavy Machinery Makes Me Happy

The above is a photo of our seeding equipment.  The back bit is called an air seeding bar and it is being towed by one of our tractors.  The photo was taken a few years ago during "seeding".  Seeding refers to the time of year we plant our crops.  It starts mid April (depending on rain) and goes forever.  Well not really forever, but it feels like that by the end!  In reality we have two seeding rigs, like the one above, going for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 4-6 weeks.  It is easily our busiest time of the year.

I have posted this picture today because we are really starting to gear up for seeding.  Our equipment is being serviced, staff trained up and rocks etc being cleaned up out of the paddocks.  It is quite a stressful time of year and I can feel that the pressure is just starting to mount.  It is very important that we are really prepared so we can start as soon as it rains anytime from April onwards.

It makes me tired just thinking about it!

I hope everyone has had a fantastic day and is enjoying being on the downhill run to the weekend.

Take care, wherever you may be.

There is nothing worse than trying to choose just the right white! We have been through the same at our house recently and it nearly drove me nutty ;)

How exciting! Can't wait to see how the new bench top looks and the new walls. Baby wipes are legendary aren't they. I use them to clean all sorts of things and am often astonished at how efficient at cleaning they are... it amazes me that they don't dissolve babies away! Good luck with the seeding! x

I agree about the baby wipes. Does seem scary that something that all-powerful is safe for a newborns buttocks. The laminex options look good-
Betsy has faux granite laminate which is suprisingly decent ( aside from the melted burn marks courtesy previous owners). Also enjoying the heavy machinery. At 2 Roboboy was saving up for a combine harvester. At 5 he's now moved on to a Volvo with 7 seats. Alas, I don't think the Volvo comes with seed drill..... yes I have read Tractor Trouble 3489 times.

don't tell me it's starting already! My farming boy has just spent the better part of the summer re-building and bracing his boom spray ready to swing it into action. Let's hope a good crop grows this year that's worth all this effort!

Good luck with the paint colours - I'm about to embark on painting our kitchen table. The wood varnish is crappy and needs redoing anyway so I'm going to be brave and have a paint change. Picked a warm cream rather than a white - although it's called White Opal.

That is a lot of seeding! (Am used to it being called sowing.) Hope all goes well and you get a great harvest - another super-fun time of year. Oh, and good luck too with the 'doing up' projects. It's gonna look fab!

I use baby wipes to clean my timber blinds.

Have fun with your seeding! You make tractor talk interesting.
