Seeding Update.

Life on The Farm is still very busy and we are managing to get through our seeding programme fairly well.  We have had some beautiful rain. It has also finally started to feel like winter (or at least autumn).

The Farmchildren and I have lit our fire this afternoon for the first time this year. The evenings are getting quite cold now.  We went for a walk in the paddock this afternoon to gather some wood.

Look.  Our crop is just getting out of the ground.  I love the intensity of the green.

Barley Shoots

I made a last minute decision to take the kids to spend a night in Perth this weekend.  We needed a bit of a break from all things farm-like.  It is lovely to be home though.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend.  Wherever they are.

I hope your crop is a successful one. Farmers are at the mercy of the elements. I couldn't bare the anticipation.

Keep us posted on those little green sprigs.

You gotta love a fire. I still have to stop myself from saying 'time to get some wood, kids'. We had three fireplaces in our last house, and spent many pleasurable hours gathering kindling for them all.

Enjoy your autumn xxx

The farmers in my area are still burning the stubble off. Usually they start cropping - the word they use for planting the seed and when they take the plant - after ANZAC Day.
Due to the floods the cropping is very late. Not sure when the seed will be going in the ground.
I love the way the ground is brown and then suddenly you drive past and its all green with new shoots.
Enjoy your crop!!

Must be nice having a permanent supply of firewood about.

Grow grow grow little ones.
