Rainy Days and A Hypnotising New Boy.

It has been really wet here this week.  Properly wet.  We have had so much rain, in fact, that we have now pulled up our tractors because we can't get on our paddocks without getting bogged.

And you know what?  I am loving it.  I don't care about the fact that it is now quite inconvenient and is holding up important tasks.  (The Farmer does though).  I don't care about the fact that my silvery, grey 4WD is now completely brown from all the mud.  I don't even care about the piles and piles of washing that are stacking up, waiting to go through the dryer or get draped all over the house.  After the last few years where we have never got quite enough rain, it just feels right somehow.  Like a proper, normal winter.

I am testing out my four wheel driving skills along tracks that look like this.

My gumboots are getting a major workout.

Gumboots

And I am loving lying in bed at night, knowing it is raining outside.

It has been a long week here and I feel a bit weary for a Friday night. Farmboy woke me up last night as he had a nightmare. The nightmare involved a fake new boy coming into his class at school.  The fake new boy went to do "show and tell" and instead hypnotised the whole class and the teacher.  Evidently it was all very disastrous.  (Farmboy is super imaginative and tends towards nightmares - the most memorable occasion being after he watched Muppets In Space and then dreamed about a brain sucking muppet for the next week...)

Anyway - by the time I had listened to the whole sorry tale at 3 am this morning and settled Farmboy down, I was so awake that I couldn't go back to sleep.  So today has felt very long...

I am looking forward to the weekend though.  Farmboy is going to wow us with his Minkey prowess tomorrow, or at least the stylish air guitar he does on his stick when he gets bored if he is the goalie.  Can't wait.

Take care and have a good weekend, wherever you may be.

I'm glad someone is enjoying the rain, and I know we need it, but my small boy just doesn't understand that we can't stay at the park when it starts pouring.

Farm Boy's nightmares do sound rather interesting - pity he can't just go back to sleep and tell you about it in the morning, but at least you can't be concerned about his imagination! Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight.

Given a little imagination or a lot of wine, muppets can be quite scary, I agree.

Enjoy the rain, best for your weekend :)

I dont think Farmers ever tire of rain. I am glad to hear you are getting some.

It has just started to rain lightly outside, so I am hoping for a wet day tomorrow as the garden is in need. It has been a dry start to the year here.

Hope your Farmboy's nightmares settle down.

You have a great weekend too!

Pleased you're getting wonderful rain. Our summer was much the same and we'll continue to reap the benefits for years. Our irrigation bore has gone artesian, with water pouring from the top, the underground water table is so full ... unheard of around here.

The rain has certainly been lovely. As the daughter of a wheat/sheep farmer from Benjaberring and living in the country myself now I certainly value the rain. We left the farm when I was only 71/2. ( it was my grandparents.) I was talking to Mum very early this morning about how she was finding the weather. Me in my uggies and jumper over pjs and a hot cuppa hibernating in the office so as not to wake the family and she, still snuggled up in bed at the retirement place in Busselton. As she said, the rain is good, as long as we don't get too much. It's hard for anyone not on a farm to understand how important the rain is. Too much, too little, just right. Always complaining about the rain. A country persons lot.
Have a lovely weekend.

I am glad the rain is helping out on the farm. It does make for a long week though! Does he really know how to hypnotise? x

I'd be worried about fake new boy too. Farmboy is clever!

Yay for rain! We're getting some here in Adelaide too. All day yesterday, although there's dry blue skies today.
Fake new boy does sound scary.

I am loving the rain. Map Guy works for the water corp so I have daily updates on the state of the damn dams.
Farm Boy should start writing down these stories - he'll be a world famous writer :)
