Winter By The Beach.

It's cold here in the crayfishing town which is the home of The Beach House.  Colder than I have ever been here before.

I love The Beach in winter.  We have decided to squeeze in a quick few days at The Beach to try and have a little break before the chaos that will be moving house.  The Farmchildren are loving it.  Riding bikes and playing outside between showers of rain.

Even in mid winter it is usually mild here, but not this time.  I have used all our fire wood in 2 days.  Instead of lighting the fire in the evenings as an excuse for a cosy glass of red wine, it has been going non-stop all day.  Yesterday I gave in and bought a bag of firewood after getting my head around the fact that one smallish bag cost $20.  Farmboy has now decided that he should be paid for his wood collecting assistance at home on The Farm...

I thought I would be sick of winter by now but I'm not.  By the end of last summer I was completely sapped as it was so long and hot and dry. I'm not ready yet to go back to temperatures in the 40s and endless dust.  Knowing the rain is so good for our business also makes it much easier to tolerate.

So this Farm Family is rugging up and relishing their winter holiday.

Very Wintery Beach

(Also - apologies for the fact that I am not commenting on many blogs at present.  The internet arrangement I use at The Beach House is painfully slow at the moment.)

Oh, I know what you mean about the summer. Funny how I always say I prefer the summer but really am not motivated at all to do any housework or gardening during that time because it's so damn hot. You guys did have a very hot summer last year, from memory. Which reminds me, now that it's cooler, I better get busy and do some housework! LOL

This sounds so lovely. I'm always amazed how much my kids love sitting by a fire. It's the whole 'sitting' thing that amazes me, as this is something they don't do very often. In fact, I might go as far to say they like the fire more than the TV!
Enjoy your break.

We live 20 minutes from the coast and love to light a beach fire on a sunny Sunday, have a barbecue, sit around the fire and toast marshmallows or make Smores.

I reckon we're having a cold winter here too..and I don't think blogging helps..the keyboard just takes any warmth I have in my fingers..straight out!

I love the beach in winter too! Somehow the muted colours are just a bit more beautiful than all the bright hot gaudiness of summer. I also agree, while it is absolutely freezing in Canberra, I'm loving winter. Lots of great clothes and food plus endless excuses for snuggling!

Enjoy your break. Busy times ahead. Although our winters are very mild, this one has had a little more bite than usual. No complaints either, as our horrendously hot summers make farm-life tougher than usual!

I love the beach in winter too. I have such fair skin that it is pretty much out of the question in Summer (except after 4pm!). Have a great mini-break x

I love the beach in winter, it is my favourite time to visit, especially if there is a storm. All that ozone is so good for the soul.
