A Farmer's Wife Extols The Virtues Of The Zoo

Hello all.  We are back and firmly installed in The Beach House.  Which, incidentally, has had a bit of an overall.  The general vibe is now very much Ikea meets The Hamptons meets Nanna By The Sea.  All done on a bit of a budget.  But more about that later...

The highlight of our recent trip to The City (aka the gorgeous city of Perth) was a visit to The Perth Zoo.  Now I have to admit that I had not visited The Zoo for some years.  The Farmchildren have been taken by The Farmer or their grandparents several times but I have always opted for some quality childfree time at the shops/hairdresser/cafe with friends instead.  This was brought home to me by Farmboy's clear instructions from the back of the car in relation to exactly how to get there and then where to get a good parking spot.  He was bang on and way better than the GPS.

The Perth Zoo was brilliant.  We all loved it.  It was much shadier and lush than I remembered and the grounds were beautiful without being too manicured and precious.  Some parts of The Zoo haven't changed since I visited as a small child. They still have the pretty carousel which I vividly remember.  Tricia the elephant is still in residence and gets taken out and about for a walk.

Some things have changed.  The animals all now have natural habitats and look very happy and content.

We visited in the middle of the day.  The Zoo animals were showing signs of superior intelligence. They knew exactly how to cope with the heat of a January day in Perth.

They were having a siesta.

Overall a great day was had by all.

Hello AFW!

The Beach House sounds fabulous. I too feel those style influences. I'm off to Ikea this weekend for office type decorating supplies. Much more fun than officeworks.

I love lions. I've been watching far too many wildlife docos on Nat Geo....

Have a great weekend,

I'm looking forward to seeing what you've done with your beach house. No doubt it will look fantastic!

Hope you and your family have a great weekend.

Nothing says beach house like Antilop or Semvik. Oh wait, that's beech. My mistake.

SSG - I hope your Ikea trip was as successful as ours was. Take care.

Sarah - The penguin was so motionless I had to use the camera zoom to check it was breathing and that I wasn't taking a photo of a dead penguin

Brasilian_Babe - I agree that almost everyone loves the zoo.

Glowless - There is a fair amount of Swedish flat packed beech love in this house now so you are pretty spot on.
