The Rainbow Connection.

I have always loved the Kermit the Frog song "Rainbow Connection." When The Farmchildren were babies I used to sing it to them while they were going to sleep.

Rainbows have a magical, mythical quality to them.  I think it is something to do with how elusive and fleeting they can be.

On Tuesday this week I went to draw the curtains in our dining room before I turned on the heaters and lit the fire for the evening.  And look what I saw out the window.

Double Rainbow, South From Main Homestead

I quickly grabbed The Farmchildren and we ran outside to have a look.

Rainbow Hunters

This rainbow was a double one and we could see the whole arc.  I couldn't get a photo of the whole thing as it covered the entire southern half of the sky.  The Farmchildren were so excited and I had to spend a considerable amount of effort preventing Farmboy from hopping on his bike and heading off to look for the pot of gold.

It was a magical evening.

For those of you who want a little flash back - here's Kermit

Have a wonderful weekend, wherever you are.

I think everybody's albums include some much loved rainbow shots. I think they emphasise the wonder of nature.

I love a rainbow too. One of my favourite books as a child was Grug and the rainbow. He kept chasing it but it kept moving away, so he built his own. It was so sweet.

What a nice start to the day!

We had a big afternoon rainbow the other day as well, not a double though. I couldn't get a photo because I was in the car at the time. Yours is just lovely...

Thanks for bringing back memories with The Rainbow Connection.

We are having nice days here at the moment, hope yours are too!

I love that song so much it's on my I-pod playlist. We had a rainbow end in our backyard once, but the pot of gold was at the other end.

Oh Farmboy! Too cute. I would have let him go. He would have had a good sleep that night!

Fantastic posts. Funny how a felt frog can bring you to tears. ;)

Can I just say I am so glad Kermit has this many fans. He makes me cry too - something about the sweetness of the song, the fuzziness of Kermit and the fact that I was only 4 when it came out.... Childhood memories.

Aaaah - Kermit, it may not be easy being green but you do it with style.
